Lesson Overview
In this lesson students will explore climate change and the impact it has on them at an individual, local, national and worldwide level. Students will as a class create an overall definition of climate change. They will then explore their own personal contribution of daily resources using the iPad app Go Green they will make a note of the electronics, food, number of showers and transport they use daily. This will then give each students the kg of CO2 they use yearly and compare these figures to each other. Students will examine which aspect of their life they have the most CO2 consumption in. Students will get in pairs and be guided to the Global Carbon Atlas website which shows the carbon levels of each country and comparison of number of people to the kg used. Students will be required to list the top 20 countries carbon emissions and work out the kg used per person. They will then draw conclusions regarding the consumption of carbon per capita. Using prior knowledge students will then create a window piece of art whereby on a piece of paper there will be 3 windows drawn and students must shown the landscape outside the window of their classroom, and then outside 2 other places in the world, paying particular attention to areas affected by climate change (pollution, smog, tsunami, flooding etc).

During this lesson I will:
- Create a class definition and understanding of climate change
- Examine my personal use of CO2 per year
- Compare my use of CO2 to countries around the world
- Create a visual piece demonstrating my understanding of the affects of climate change around the world
