lesson 1
lesson overview
In this lesson, students begin to explore the wider effects of climate change. They are asked to think about the impacts of climate change for people in other countries and compare and contrast their findings with their personal experience.
This lesson also introduces the summative assessment task to the students. After receiving their character role, students are given time to share with other students, their thoughts on how they think climate change may effect their character. As a class, the teacher begins to introduce the type of ideas students may wish to develop their inquiry questions from. |

lesson 2
lesson overview
This lesson builds on the content of the previous lesson and requires students to begin thinking about what they need to know about their character role so that they can help to answer our overarching question of " What can we, as members of our year 6 school community, do to minimize the negative effects of climate change?"
Students use the class-constructed mind map and work collaboratively in their continent groups to examine a range of stimuli to assist in the formation of their own inquiry questions. |
